HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 30

Requesting the Governor to take suitable public notice on Monday,
February 21, 2000, and on the third Monday of February of each
succeeding year thereafter, as "White Coat Day," in honor,
recognition and appreciation of all medical doctors of this
state.

Whereas, West Virginia's 3,000 physicians practice around the
clock to care for patients of all ages in life-threatening
situations throughout our state; and

Whereas, Both our active and retired physicians donate their
time generously to provide medical services to our uninsured
citizens at free clinics in rural and urban communities all over
West Virginia; and

Whereas, Our physicians and their spouses dedicate their lives
to the health and well-being of West Virginians by educating our
youth about the dangers of tobacco use and school violence, by
working with the victims of domestic violence, and by promoting
public health awareness on a variety of subjects; and

Whereas, Our physicians and their spouses are working to
improve access to health care for all citizens of our state today
and in the years to come; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Governor take suitable public notice of Monday,
February 21, 2000, and the third Monday in each succeeding February
hereafter, as "White Coat Day" to honor and appreciate the
wonderful men and women who are our West Virginia physicians.
